River of Light Parade Illuminates Watertown’s Connection to the Charles River

WATERTOWN, MA — Watertown’s inaugural River of Light Lantern Parade turned a rainy winter evening into a magical celebration of creativity, community, and culture. The event, initially planned for the grounds surrounding the Mosesian Center for the Arts, was relocated indoors due to rain but remained a beacon of warmth and togetherness on Saturday, January 18.

The parade featured handmade lanterns reflecting themes of the Charles River, Watertown’s natural and historical lifeline. Participants crafted creations like fish, birds, and frogs to honor the river and its deep connection to the community.

This year’s parade also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Mosesian Center for the Arts, a fitting celebration for a space that once housed weaponry and now fosters creativity and unity.
