Raiders Report: John Ryan Arena Accessibility Improvements, Victory Field Turf Public Hearing
WATERTOWN – The Raiders basketball and ice hockey teams were on the road this week, so highlights were hard to come by. But all three teams remain in the playoff race with less than a week left in the regular season.
On February 14th, the Watertown CIty Council approved a $300,000 order to replace the handicapped ramp at the John Ryan Arena skating rink. City officials say the ramp is in desperate need of repair and is not ADA compliant.
A public hearing during the City Council’s next meeting on February 28th will allow residents to give feedback on the proposed replacement of the Victory Field turf. On Tuesday night, the council heard a first reading of a proposed $1.5 million project to replace the current “crumb rubber” turf with the a more organic material.
