Public Works Director Tom Brady Unveils Vision for Infrastructure, Communication, and Accreditation
WATERTOWN – Watertown’s new Director of Public Works, Tom Brady, made his first public appearance in the role during a special DPW Open House event—part of National Public Works Week. As residents toured city vehicles and learned about departmental services, Brady used the opportunity to introduce himself and outline his vision for Watertown’s future infrastructure and operations.
Brady, who previously served the city from 1996 to 2001, returns after 24 years in Brookline where he helped lead that community to become New England’s first nationally accredited Public Works agency. He now hopes to bring that same level of excellence to Watertown.
Brady also emphasized a data-driven, sustainable approach to managing the city’s $70 million capital improvement program, which includes major investments in roads, sidewalks, and underground infrastructure. He hopes to integrate environmentally responsible practices such as tree trenches and natural stormwater controls.
