Boston Gold Kings Capture Championship in Thrilling 5–4 Win Over Salem
WATERTOWN – In a game packed with goals, grit, and drama, the Boston Gold Kings capped off a storybook season by defeating the top-seeded Salem Sasquatch, 5–4, to win the Power Play Senior Hockey League championship Saturday night at John A. Ryan Arena in Watertown.
The Gold Kings, seeded third in the four-team league, swept the best-of-three finals series, having already stunned Salem on the road in Game 1. On their home ice for Game 2, they closed the deal with a come-from-behind effort that showcased their depth, resolve, and explosive scoring ability.
The championship marks the first for Boston in just their second year as a franchise.
The Gold Kings finish the season on a four-game win streak and claim their first PPSHL title, bringing the cup home to Watertown.
The Power Play Senior Hockey League features adult players with collegiate and minor league experience, competing on weekends across the region. The Gold Kings joined the league last year and have quickly established themselves as one of its top teams.
