Watertown’s Eco Fest Returns With Hands-On Sustainability Activities
WATERTOWN – Watertown is gearing up for the return of EcoFest, a community-focused sustainability event designed to connect residents with practical ways to live more environmentally friendly.
The second annual EcoFest will take place on May 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Commander’s Mansion. The event brings together local organizations, businesses, and community groups to showcase resources and solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact.
Attendees can explore a wide range of offerings—from solar and heat pump information to low-waste home goods and environmental advocacy groups. Interactive elements are also a major focus this year, including e-bike cargo test rides and a mobile bike repair station.
A highlight of the event is a community clothing swap, where residents can donate gently used clothing ahead of time and browse for free items during the event. Donations will be accepted from April 12 through April 24 at designated drop-off locations, including the Watertown Free Public Library and Roche Bros. at Arsenal Yards. Clothing for all ages and genders is welcome, and shoes must be paired.
During EcoFest, all donated items will be sorted and displayed inside the Commander’s Mansion for attendees to take at no cost. A mending workshop will also be available to help residents learn simple sewing techniques and extend the life of their clothing.
Organizers say the goal is to make sustainability accessible and engaging for everyone in the community, with activities and programming designed for all ages.
