Watertown High School Students Host Health Screening Clinic for City Employees
WATERTOWN – Students from Watertown High School’s Medical Assisting Program stepped out of the classroom and into the community — hosting a health screening clinic for city employees at the Watertown Police Department.
The student-run clinic offered basic health checks for police, fire, public works, and other city staff as part of National Heart Month. Screenings included vital signs, blood pressure, cholesterol, and other routine health indicators — giving students valuable real-world experience working with patients.
The event is part of Watertown High School’s Chapter 74 Medical Assisting pathway, which allows students to gain hands-on healthcare training and even sit for a national certification exam before graduating.
Program leaders say they hope to host more clinics in the future and eventually expand them to serve Watertown residents as well.
Watertown Cable News stopped by to see how the program is preparing students for future careers in healthcare.
