Watertown School Committee Invites Public to Suggest Names for Auditorium and Gym at New High School

WATERTOWN, MA – Watertown School Committee Chair Kendra Foley recently sat down with WCA-TV to discuss the process of naming the new auditorium and gymnasium at the soon-to-be-completed Watertown High School. Foley explained that this exciting opportunity allows the community to propose names for these key facilities, as part of the broader effort to recognize individuals who have significantly impacted the town.

Foley emphasized that the naming process falls under the jurisdiction of the School Committee and aligns with the district’s mission, vision, and values. Community members are encouraged to submit recommendations by October 7th, including the proposed name, whether it applies to the gym or auditorium, and the reasons for the suggestion. Send suggestion to her email [email protected].

“We’ve already received a few submissions, and it’s exciting to see the community’s engagement,” said Foley, noting that the new high school provides a fresh chance to honor individuals who have contributed to Watertown’s legacy.

With students expected to move into the new school in April 2026, the project represents a significant milestone for the town. “This state-of-the-art facility is going to be a gem for our students, families, and the entire community,” Foley added.

The School Committee will review submissions and continue discussions at their upcoming meetings.
