Digital Equity in Watertown Focus of Recent Meeting, Survey, and WCA-TV Show
WATERTOWN – To further its digital equity efforts, the City of Watertown is pleased to collaborate with the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) on a residential survey. All are encouraged to complete the survey which is intended to assess internet accessibility, device and technical support availability, service affordability, and digital education needs within the community. Data gathered from this survey will be used to inform statewide digital equity efforts and ensure that forthcoming federal funding – administered by the state – will directly benefit local programs for Watertown residents.
Watertown Chief Information officer Christopher McClure further elaborated on the city’s digital equity efforts on the latest episode of his show “I.T. Did You Know?” produced by WCA-TV.
On June 27th, 2023., the City of Watertown hosted a Public Broadband & Digital Equity Information Session. During the virtual meeting, city officials and consultants outlined the city’s stategic plan to address the “digital divide” that still exists.
Residents are asked to complete the Digital Equity survey by July 14th. Paper copies are available at the Watertown Free Public Library.
