Watertown Sons of Italy Hold Annual Motorcycle Ride

Watertown Sons of Italy – Watertown Sons of Italy – Despite less than ideal conditions, motorcyclists from Watertown and towns beyond came out for the Watertown Sons of Italy’s 4th annual motorcycle ride to benefit the First Responders Charity Fund. The fund allows the Sons of Italy to present scholarships to anyone looking to become a police officer, firefighter, go into the medical field or join the military. Scholarships can also be awarded to family members of first responders.

The Boston Strong-Watertown Strong Bike Ride began in 2013 following the Boston Marathon attacks to honor all the first responders who saved lives that day. After four years of motorcycle rides, there are enough funds this year to give out four scholarships to the children of Watertown firefighters and police officers.

Watertown’s Chief of Police Michael Lawn was on hand to present the four $1000 scholarships. “It means a lot to us that these individuals give up their Sunday afternoon to come down here and try to raise money and give back to the sons and daughters of the Watertown Police Department,” said Lawn.
