Town Council Holds Public Hearing and Vote on a Proposed Amendment to the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget

Town Hall – At the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 23, the two main agenda items were directly related to funding. The Council held a public hearing and vote on a proposed amendment to increase the fiscal 2019 budget by $2.6 million. The increase revenue and expenditures is due to new growth of two projects. The Marriott Hotel and the Lynx Office building assessments are going to be higher than originally estimated. The second factor was the three Research & Development buildings that are occupied by Life Science Buildings.

The other major agenda item was the first reading of a proposal to borrow or expend $1.6 million. This request is for the purpose of paying the cost of a feasibility study and schematic of Watertown High School. Watertown is already in the process of renovating and rebuilding its three Elementary schools.
