Sports Report: Raiders Field Hockey Falls Short of State Title for First Time Since 2008

WCA-TV Studio – WCA-TV Studio – The toughest thing about building a dynasty is consistency. Watertown’s field hockey team have been the most dominant force in Massachusetts Division 2 field hockey division for the past decade. Nine straight state titles, 187 game unbeaten streak, 49 consecutive state tournament victories, and dozens of individual accolades. All good things must end and for the first time in a long time a team other than Watertown High School has brought a championship home.

In a battle of two undefeated squads, Watertown took on Dennis-Yarmouth at Braintree high school. The Dolphins would draw first blood behind the stick of Lucy Agurkis. The Raiders would respond off a well executed drawn up corner play finished by Olivia Lampasona. With three minutes left, Taylor Lambo, who had an excellent game, couldn’t stop the counter attack and Abigail Hicks would send the shot home and Dennis-Yarmouth to state tournament final.
