Sports Report: WHS Basketball Welcomes Burlington to Town with Mixed Results

WCA-TV Studio- After weeks of road games and holidays, the Watertown High School boys and girls basketball teams welcome division rival Burlington to town for a Friday night doubleheader.

The girls team played the first game of the Friday evening tilt. This game was very close for the first half. A time expiring three-point heave by Taylor Lambo put Watertown up two at the end of the first quarter. Open layups and transitional defense put the Raiders in a hole for the remainder of the game. Watertown battled back but couldn’t stop Burlington on the way a 44-37 loss. Taylor Lambo was dominant with 17 points.

In the second game of the evening, the boys basketball exerted its will on Burlington. The game started off with each team, specifically the point guards, trading blows. Gabriel Spinelli had 11 points in the first half and Burlington’s Alex Wong was having his way with the Raiders defenders. In the end, the depth and good shooting from Watertown’s Henry Papadopoulos and Devon Breen would be too much to handle.
