Sports Report: Watertown Squares Off with Belmont in Frigid Thanksgiving Day Game

WCA-TV Studio – Thanksgiving is a day of feasting, spending quality time with loved ones, and football. A highly contested rivalry game is best way to kick off Turkey day, especially when it has the significance of Watertown vs. Belmont. This historical game has been played for 97 years, with the Raiders winning the last six games between these two neighboring rivals.

In one of the wackiest opening two minutes to a game, Watertown would successful recover three onside kicks in a row. The sub-freezing weather conditions played a helping hand in the fast start for Watertown. Before spectators were able to drink their coffee, the Raiders scored 20 points within the opening three minutes.

Those three minutes were the finest moments for Watertown. They would not score for the remainder of the game. Belmont would score 33 unanswered points behind their two-headed rushing attack of Rhaki Jospeh and Killian O’Connell who combined for an eye-popping 300 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.
