School Committee Address Parent Concerns Over Kindergarten Structure

Town Hall – The School Committee met on Monday July 23 to discuss a variety of different topics. The main focus on the meeting was to provide an update on the Kindergarten curriculum in Watertown Public Schools. The new changes will mainly revolve around foreign language classes and social and emotional learning.

Parents and community members voiced their concerns with the curriculum. With the added lessons and programs implemented, parents are concerned there will be less time for recess and unstructured time for kids to utilize.

Superintendent Dr. Dede Galdston addressed these concerns. She is also is preparing a public meeting where the School Department and parents can meet to discuss these issues.
