School Committee Awarding World War II Veterans with Diploma, Concerns Still Linger Over New Buses and Vans

Town Hall – The School Committee began its meeting on Wednesday, August 15 on a different note. The Committee unanimously approved a recommendation to award a High School diploma to a Watertown World War II Veteran. This Veteran was unable to finish high school due to his service. Superintendent Dr. Dede Galdston will honor this Veteran at the next meeting in September.

Later in the meeting, the School Committee gave their composite performance evaluation for Dr. Dede Galdston. The Superintendent’s 2017-18 goals and objectives were thoroughly examined and discussed.

Lastly, the Committee made a recommendation to lease two buses for school transportation purposes. However major issues were raised about the costs and questions about who would be driving the buses. The School Committee has tabled the proposition until more information is gathered.
