Hundreds Run in the Rain for Police Department’s Fifth Annual Finish Strong 5K Road Race

Tufts Health Plan- Over 700 runners braved the elements on Sunday, April 29, for the Watertown Police Department’s fifth annual Finish Strong 5K. The race was established on the anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombings and subsequent manhunt for the bombers that ended in Watertown. The race may never have as big a turn out as it did its first year, but the charity run has continued to grow in other ways.

Attending this year’s race were two familiar faces – Jeff Bauman, who lost both his legs in the marathon bombings, and Carlos Arredondo who helped save Bauman’s life by rushing him to paramedics. Both were on hand to support the race five years later. We spoke to Watertown Police Chief Michael Lawn about the significance of this year’s event.
