School Committee Approves Proposal to Create More Classroom Space
Town Hall – Classrooms at the Phillips School will begin renovation this summer after the School Committee approved a plan to move integrated preschool classes from the Hosmer School. Superintendent Dr. Jean Fitzgerald has discussed numerous plans to deal with the overcrowded classrooms in Watertown’s public schools, and acknowledges that there is no perfect plan to deal with the issue at this time.
At the most recent School Committee meeting, officials discussed and voted on the third and most recent proposal by Dr. Fitzgerald, which moves the preschool classes from the Hosmer to the Phillips School, combines the Learning Support programs at Cunniff into one room, and turns the computer room at the Lowell school into a classroom.
