“Watertown Welcomes Immigrants” as Hundreds Line Streets in Support

Watertown Square – Towns and cities all over the country have begun declaring themselves “sanctuary cities” in response to President Donald Trump’s executive orders regarding immigrants coming to the United States. Several groups in Watertown are hoping to get town officials to declare Watertown as a sanctuary city. On Feb. 26, these groups held the event “Watertown Welcomes Immigrants’ where residents could voice their support for immigrants and refugees. It started as a rally in Watertown Square, and then moved to Grace Vision church for a community meeting. Several local and state officials, along with experts and concerned residents made statements about sanctuary cities and immigration law.
