Dozens Walk to Save Lives in Armenian Bone Marrow Registry’s Walk of Life

Armenian Cultural and Educational Center – This past Saturday was an exciting day in Watertown with the annual Faire on the Square taking place at Saltonstall Park. However, while the Faire was happening, another great annual event started on the other side of town. The New England Chapter of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry held its sixth annual Walk of Life. Due to the unique genetic makeup of Armenians, it is very difficult for them to find a bone marrow match among the existing international registries of donors. The Walk of Life helps fund and maintain a donor registry for Armenian people. Bone marrow transplants are crucial procedures for people with leukemia and other life-threatening blood disorders.
