Retired Town Councilor Appointed to Fill Seat Being Vacated by Departing Councilor Michael Dattoli

Town Hall – At the last Town Council meeting, Councilor Michael Dattoli announced that he will be leaving Watertown and will be vacating his seat on the Council. Following his announcement, the Town Council was left with two options to fill his seat. One option would be to hold a special election later this year, which could cost around $12,000. The other option would be voting to appoint someone to complete the 18 months on Dattoli’s term. At the Mar. 15 town council meeting, Councilors chose to save some taxpayer money and appoint a familiar face to serve the remaining time on Dattoli’s term.
