Cooperation of Multiple Town Departments and Community Members Leading Watertown’s Fight Against Opioids

Watertown Free Public Library- For the past three years, the Watertown Access to Treatment, Education, and Resources (W.A.T.E.R.town) task force has been at the forefront of Watertown’s fight against opioids and overdoses in the community. The Task Force is comprised of a large number of community members including residents and those representing Town departments and organizations.

The task force has helped institute a number of vital programs and initiatives in Watertown. In 2016, the free Narcan program was introduced which allows families to acquire the life-saving medication Narcan for no cost. The task force also organizes documentary and film showings, educational forums, and provides services for families in the community struggling with substance use.
